The all-party dialogue to discuss the July Proclaimation, chaired by Dr Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser of the interim government, is underway at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka.
The meeting started at 4:30pm on Thursday (16 January).
Political representatives began arriving at the venue earlier in the afternoon, marking a crucial step in the preparation for the July declaration.
At approximately 3:30pm, a four-member delegation from Jamaat-e-Islami, led by Secretary Mia Golam Parwar, entered the Foreign Service Academy to participate in the dialogue.
By 3:45pmthe sole representative from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), permanent committee member Salahuddin Ahmed, was seen entering the venue, confirming BNP's participation despite earlier uncertainty surrounding their involvement.
The dialogue, which had initially raised concerns about BNP’s attendance, was officially confirmed after Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP’s media cell, assured that Salahuddin Ahmed would represent the party in the talks.
Other political entities, including Islamic Andolon Bangladesh, Gono Front, Khelafat Majlish, Gono Parishad, and Gono Songhoti Andolon, also sent representatives to the meeting.
An official press release from the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing, issued the previous evening, had confirmed the time and location of the meeting.
The dialogue, which is expected to play a pivotal role in the political discourse ahead of the July Proclamation, is being held as the interim government seeks to navigate the complex political landscape.
