BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan has dismissed claims of a growing rift between the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, asserting that both parties share common goals of democracy, elections, and people's rights.

Speaking at BNP Chairperson's Gulshan office on Friday following a meeting with the party’s liaison committee, Nazrul Islam clarified the relationship between the two parties. “There is no issue of distance here. Jamaat also wants democracy, elections, and people's rights, just as we do. But if anyone claims they are the only patriots, naturally, we would feel hurt. We hope such remarks will not be made,” he said.

Nazrul Islam acknowledged that Jamaat had shown limited involvement during BNP’s earlier joint protests but praised their active role in recent movements aimed at ousting the Awami League government.

He expressed optimism that Jamaat-e-Islami would continue to contribute significantly in future efforts to restore democracy in Bangladesh. He said, "We hope that in the coming days, we will all be part of the movement to re-establish democracy, and they (Jamaat) will also be involved,"
