A consignment of 24,690 metric tonnes (MT) of parboiled rice is set arrive at Chattogram Port from India early Thursday.
A press release of the Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday said that Indian vessel MV.TANAIS DREAM carrying the consignment will anchor at the sea port around 5:30am.
It is the first batch of rice imports from India after the interim government led by Dr Muhammad Yunus assumed office.
The government moved to import the rice to tame the local market.
