Robi Axiata PLC and the Cyber Crime Awareness Foundation (CCAF) have joined forces to enhance internet safety across Bangladesh. The partnership brings CCAF into the Bangladesh Safe Internet Forum (BSIF), a Robi-led advocacy platform dedicated to combating cybercrimes and ensuring safe online experiences for all, especially women and children.
Established in 2015, CCAF has been instrumental in raising cybersecurity awareness and fostering skill development in the field. BSIF complements this mission by promoting responsible internet usage through collaborative initiatives, reads a press release.
Under the joint venture, a range of measures has been introduced to create a safer digital environment. These include a URL-blocking service, supported by the National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC), which enables the manual and automatic blocking of harmful websites. In collaboration with the Department of Social Services, a helpline (1098) has also been launched to provide a one-stop service for addressing children’s safety concerns online.
The initiative is further bolstered by partnerships with organizations such as Save the Children International and ActionAid Bangladesh. A three-year roadmap has been devised, focusing on child protection policies, training sessions, and awareness programs aimed at preventing cybercrimes.
Robi’s Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer, Shahed Alam, emphasized the importance of the collaboration, stating, “Our goal is to minimize cybersecurity risks and create a safe internet experience for everyone. Together with CCAF, we are committed to achieving this objective.”
Kazi Mustafiz, President of CCAF, expressed optimism about the partnership, saying, “Our long-term vision is to engage every citizen in cybersecurity initiatives. With Robi as our partner, we are confident in our ability to make significant progress.”
