The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has approved the filing of a case against former deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank, SK Sur Chowdhury, his wife, Suparna Sur Chowdhury, and their daughter, Nandita Sur Chowdhury, over allegations of tax evasion.
Nazmul Hossain, Deputy Director of the ACC, will initiate the case, said Aktarul Islam, spokesperson for the anti-graft body.
As part of the investigation into the allegations, the ACC earlier obtained the bank account details of SK Sur Chowdhury and his family members.
This follows a directive issued in July 2021 by the National Board of Revenue, which instructed banks to freeze the accounts of the former deputy governor, his wife, and daughter.
The development marks a significant step in the ACC's broader efforts to address corruption and financial misconduct at the highest levels of governance.
