Joint forces and local residents on Thursday locked a group of suspected robbers inside a branch of Rupali Bank at Chunkutia in south Keraniganj, Dhaka.
Witnesses reported hearing gunshots from inside, escalating concerns about the safety of the employees and customers believed to be held hostage.
The robbers have reportedly locked the main doors from within, preventing anyone from entering or leaving the building. Law enforcement is using loudspeakers to call for the robbers to surrender and release the hostages unharmed.
The area around the bank has been cordoned off, and a crowd of anxious locals has gathered. Authorities are maintaining strict control over the scene to ensure public safety.
