Three armed men who attempted a robbery at the Jinjira branch of Rupali Bank in Dhaka's Keraniganj surrendered after a three-hour standoff on Thursday afternoon.

The robbers, who stormed the bank located in the Chunkutia Pakapul area around 2 PM, had taken several staff members and costumers hostage. Following negotiations, all hostages were safely released, confirmed Rapid Action Battalion (Rab)-10 Commanding Officer Khalilur Rahman Hawlader.

The suspects were later taken into custody at Keraniganj South Police Station for further interrogation. No injuries were reported in the incident.

As the robbery unfolded, joint forces, including police, Rab, and army personnel, swiftly surrounded the building to secure the area and rescue the hostages. Law enforcement used loudspeakers to urge the robbers to surrender, while locals reported hearing gunshots from inside the bank, sparking fears for the safety of those trapped.

The robbers reportedly locked the main doors from within, preventing anyone from entering or leaving the building.
