In the face of student protests, Professor Anupam Sen has resigned as Vice Chancellor of Premier University in Chattogram.
At the same time, the deputy vice chancellor and treasurer of the university have also resigned from their respective posts.
The university's Registrar Mohammad Iftekhar Monir confirmed the resignations to the media on Friday (6 December) night.
He said that Anupam Sen has submitted his resignation citing old age reasons while the deputy vice chancellor and treasurer have resigned citing personal reasons.
The general students of the university have been waging protests for the last two days demanding the resignation of the vice chancellor. As part of the protest, they declared a complete shutdown by locking three campuses since Wednesday.
