Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has reiterated that no aggression or provocation against Bangladesh will be tolerated, firmly stating, "We will not concede even an inch of Bangladesh to anyone."
He emphasised unity in national matters, pledging to collectively resist any kind of incitement or misinformation campaigns.
Addressing a worker's meeting organised by the Metropolitan Jamaat in Cumilla Town Hall on Friday morning (6 December), Shafiqur Rahman made these remarks as the chief guest.
He said, "Certain groups seek to achieve their own objectives by using the term 'minority' and attempt to destabilise the country through provocative statements. However, their efforts will never succeed. We will stand united to defend our nation. We will not relinquish even a fraction of our land or tolerate any aggression."
The Jamaat chief also shared his vision for the country, stating, "If Jamaat comes to power, we will build a nation free from corruption and discrimination. People of all religions will coexist peacefully, practising their faiths without interference or excess."
On the topic of the national parliamentary election, Shafiqur Rahman commented, "The people will decide whom to vote for, based on past, present, and future considerations. We trust and support this government and hope that, following reforms, an interim government will soon create an environment conducive to elections."
The meeting was attended by several prominent figures, including former MP and Jamaat-e-Islami's central Naib-e-Ameer Dr Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, Kazi Din Mohammad, Ameer of Comilla Metropolitan Jamaat and member of the central executive committee, Assistant Secretary-General Maulana ATM Masum, Maulana Abdul Halim, former Chhatra Sangha VP and central executive committee member Advocate Jasim Uddin Sarkar, and Cumilla North District Amir Professor Abdul Matin, along with other leaders.
It is noteworthy that this was the first such worker’s meeting in Comilla since 2005. The last meeting had been presided over by the former Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami and ex-Minister of Industries, Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami.
