Women will advance using modern technology: PM Hasina

Expecting that our women's society will advance through the use of modern technology in the era of the fourth industrial revolution, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that initiatives are being taken to evaluate women's labour and contribution to the national economy in domestic work.

The premier said this in a message given on the occasion of 'International Women's Day' on Friday (8 March).

International Women's Day is being observed in the country in a befitting manner.

International Women's Day (IWD), a focal point in the movement for women's rights, is celebrated on 8 March every year.

Apart from the government, different women, social and political organizations have taken separate programmes to observe the International Women's Day in Bangladesh.

Ahead of the day, in her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest Bangalee of all time, formed the Women's Rehabilitation Board in 1972 with a view to rehabilitating and empowering women affected by the Great War of Liberation.

The premier said Bangabandhu ensured equality of women in all spheres of national life in the constitution.

She went on saying that since 2009, the Awami League-led government has been continuously working to ensure the equal participation of men and women in every work.

She claims that through investments and gender-responsive financing, attempts are being made to achieve gender equality and women's empowerment in a global setting.

According to PM, the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has started a variety of initiatives to support women in thriving in Bangladesh's political, social, and economic contexts and build a better, more knowledgeable Bangladesh by 2041.

She claims that the Department of Women Affairs provides training and opportunities for self-employment to support women's equal rights, opportunities, and self-esteem.

The premier stated, "The goal of women benefit and mother and child support programs is to ensure maternal and child health and to make women self-reliant."
