The Adviser for the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs, Supradip Chakma, is scheduled to fly to the Bandarban Hill District on Thursday afternoon to visit members of the Tripura Christian community affected by Tuesday's arson attack.
On Thursday, Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Shah Mujahid Uddin and Police Superintendent Shahidullah Kawser visited the 19 families whose makeshift homes were destroyed in the attack, reads a press release.
The district authorities have provided immediate food and relief materials to the affected families. Officials noted that the victims have permanent homes in a nearby village in Lama, while the torched structures were their temporary "tong" homes.
An FIR has been filed over the incident, with a Tripura community elder accusing six rival Tripura Christian community members and a Bengali Muslim of involvement in the arson.
Police have arrested four individuals in connection with the case.
Preliminary investigations suggest the attack may be linked to a long-standing rivalry between two factions within the Tripura community. Law enforcement has intensified its efforts to apprehend all suspects and uncover the motive behind the attack.
The government has directed police to thoroughly investigate the incident and determine the motive at the earliest opportunity.
