The northern district of Nilphamari is experiencing a gradual increase in winter’s chill, with dew collecting on blades of grass in the early morning due to heavy fog.
The recorded low temperatures indicate that winter is approaching.
On Sunday (17 November) at around 6:30am, the temperature in the district was recorded at 15.6 degrees Celsius.
The dense fog also caused disruptions in aircraft operations at Syedpur Airport.
This temperature measurement was reported by the Syedpur Airport Meteorological Office.
For the past few days, light fog has been observed in the early hours, but on Sunday, a sudden blanket of dense fog enveloped the entire district, leading to an increase in the cold's intensity.
During this period, farmers were seen wearing winter clothing while working, and vehicles were using headlights due to the poor visibility caused by the fog.
Lokman Hakim, the acting officer at the Syedpur Meteorological Office, stated that both the cold and the fog had intensified compared to previous days, with dense fog covering the surroundings.
He predicted that temperatures would continue to drop in the coming days, with a full onset of winter expected next month.
Additionally, the met office has indicated that towards the end of this month, the winter chill will become more pronounced across the country, with a further intensification expected by mid-December.
