Fog is beginning to settle across the country's rural and riverside regions, indicating a hint of winter.
Meanwhile, the weakened low-pressure system over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining west-central Bay has led to a cessation of rainfall impacts in Bangladesh, contributing to an overall drop in temperatures, said the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD)
According to the BMD forecast on Thursday (14 November), the country's weather will remain predominantly dry with temporarily partly cloudy skies over the next 72 hours.
While night temperatures are expected to remain unchanged for the first 48 hours, daytime temperatures may experience a slight drop.
BMD also noted that in the past 24 hours, both day and night temperatures have decreased slightly.
Moreover, further reductions in both day and night temperatures are anticipated over the extended five-day period.
The three-month outlook indicates that a notable chill may take hold by December.
Northern regions could experience dense fog alongside the chill during this period.
While fog has already appeared in some rural and riverside regions, the capital may begin to experience colder temperatures from mid-December onwards.
BMD predicts that this winter season, Bangladesh may witness 8 to 10 mild (8–10 degrees Celsius) to moderate (6–8 degrees Celsius) cold waves.
Additionally, 2–3 severe cold waves (4–6 degrees Celsius) are likely to affect the northwestern, northeastern, and central parts of the country.
