A fire broke out in the early hours of Wednesday at the ‘Sajib Juice Factory’ in the Khulshi area of Chattogram, causing considerable disruption but resulting in no reported casualties.

The blaze ignited around 4am on Wednesday (30 October), prompting an immediate response from the Fire Service, which dispatched five units to the scene.

After an hour of concentrated efforts, firefighters managed to control the flames by 5:10am.

Station Officer Ibrahim Khalilullah Khan said, “The fire started around 4am, and upon receiving the report, our five units reached the site. We successfully controlled the blaze by 5:10am."

He added that the initial assumption points to an electrical short circuit as the likely cause, though a full investigation is underway to assess the extent of damages.

Eyewitnesses noted that the factory, constructed with a steel frame, caught fire with an intensity that led to smoke inundating a nearby residential building. Several residents became trapped within the building due to the heavy smoke but were later safely evacuated by fire service personnel.

Further details on the extent of financial damages will be determined following a thorough investigation by the authorities.
