Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, many intellectuals in the country now talk much and confuse people. I want to respond to them. Because they are misleading people with misinformation. Their job is too confusing to me. When there is democracy in society, there remains no value of these so-called intellectuals. Only an abnormal government increases their value. So, who carries what value now has to be measured by the scales.

Sheikh Hasina was addressing an election rally of Awami League at Kalabagan in the capital on Monday afternoon.

Sheikh Hasina said it is a proven truth that the fate of the people of Bangladesh improves when Awami League remains in power.

"Ziaur Rahman, Ershad and Khaleda were in power. Khaleda Zia had been Prime Minister twice, thrice. They did not give anything to the people of Bangladesh. Instead, they took from the people, they grabbed people's wealth and became wealthy out of that," she said.

"After Ziaur Rahman's death, Bangladesh Television, the only TV channel in the country, was used for long 40 days to show that Ziaur Rahman did not leave anything behind. Except for broken suitcases and torn vests. What did we see next? They have become the owners of thousands of crores," Hasina continues.

"My question is, how the broken suitcase has become a magic box, from which money comes out?"

Basically by using the power, they have become money mongers, Prime Minister also added.

"They didn't give anything to the people of the country, and they will never give. They come to power to earn money. And that is the character of those who grabbed power illegally. However, the Awami League is an organization that was unearthed from the soil of the country and the people of the country. We have been working for people since the organization was formed in 1949. That's proven today."
