Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus stressed the importance of digitisation in the fight against corruption during a meeting with senior government officials on Monday.

The meeting focused on immediate actions to expedite digital adoption across various sectors, reads a press release. 

Key decisions made include the compulsory submission of tax returns via the e-return portal for all government officials in the greater Dhaka region, as well as encouraging large corporations to implement e-return systems throughout their organizations.

The meeting outlined plans for a nationwide awareness campaign on digitization. A renewed focus was placed on improving the investment environment through the digitization of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and the National Single Window project.

Other significant decisions included ensuring the interconnectivity of systems across government organisations, alongside the establishment of a comprehensive digitization roadmap and execution timeline for public land services.

Among those who attended the meeting were Md. Siraj Uddin Mia, Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser; Md. Abdur Rahman Khan, Chairman of the NBR; ASM Saleh Ahmed, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Land; and Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA).
