Dr Asif Nazrul, adviser to the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, said President Mohammed Shahabuddin of falsehoods concerning former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation.

He further stated that the President has violated his oath by issuing contradictory statements on this matter.

On Monday (21 October), during a press briefing at the Secretariat, Dr Asif Nazrul responded to a question about the President's remarks regarding Sheikh Hasina's resignation letter.

When asked about the president’s comments on Hasina's resignation, Asif. Nazrul remarked that there are serious questions about whether the president remains fit for his position.

"If he stands by his statement, the issue will be taken to the advisory council for further action," he stated.

He further explained that judges of the Supreme Court had provided their opinions on the matter and accused the president of self-contradiction.

"The president no longer has the right to hold his office. In his speech, he stated that Sheikh Hasina had resigned, so how can he now claim otherwise, two and a half months later? He is unfit to remain in the office of the president."
