BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that the party will not take part in the upcoming upazila parishad polls.
If any leader of the party goes against party decision, stern action will be taken against the party discipline breaker, he uttered warning while addressing reporters in Bishalpur Union of Sherpur Upazila on Monday (4 March).
Rizvi was paying visit to the family members of BNP leader Abdul Matin who was killed November last year.
"The current government of Awami League is leading the country in a fascist manner. Under its tenure, various leaders and workers of BNP are being killed, disappearing, and tortured. BNP will not join any elections, including upazila elections, under the current dictatorship," said Rizvi.
Abdul Matin, 55, was a member of Bishalpur Union unit of BNP. He fled his home to avoid arrest following a police case. On 24 November of last year, his body was recovered from a mustard field in Mandail village under Sherpur upazila of Bogura district.
