Often regarded as one of the most prominent cities in the world in terms of opulence, Dubai is renowned for its abundant resources and luxurious lifestyle.

The city added another feather to its accolades as it played host to a grand wedding at one of its most opulent five-star hotels, Atlantis The Palm, drawing international attention on 8 January last year.

The bride, Samia Rahman, daughter of Mahtabur Rahman Nasir, owner of the globally renowned perfume brand Al Haramain, wed Tanveer Ahmed, the son of Mustafa Kamal, chairman of Meghna Group.

Both families hail from the Bangladeshi billionaire class.

The three-day wedding saw at least 9,000 attendees from 70 countries, including dignitaries from the United States and the United Kingdom, and has since gone viral on social media.

Held at Atlantis The Palm, a hotel where room rates range from $450 to an astonishing $10,000 per night, the wedding lived up to its extravagant setting.

Dining at the venue, even with a limited menu, can cost anywhere from $125 to $2,500, with larger spreads of 30 to 35 items surpassing normal expectations of cost and grandeur.

According to a source close to Mahtabur Rahman, a private aircraft carried 100 guests from Bangladesh to Dubai for the occasion.

Over the course of three days, 2,000 guests attended the Gaye Holud ceremony, 5,000 were present at the main wedding event, and another 2,000 joined for a cultural festival. Guests included prominent business leaders, politicians, bureaucrats, and celebrities, with approximately 500 distinguished attendees from Bangladesh alone.

The Gaye Holud took place at the luxurious Jebel Ali resort, while the main wedding ceremony was hosted in the prestigious Silk Ballroom at Atlantis The Palm.

The events featured a remarkable selection of food - 30 different dishes were served at the wedding reception, and the Gaye Holud offered an even larger spread of 35.

Mahtabur Rahman’s public relations officer, Hasanur Rahman, who was present at the wedding, described it as "a real royal wedding," with around 500 Bangladeshi guests joining the festivities.

The Father of the bride himself commented, “The main ceremony of my daughter’s wedding took place on 8 January in Dubai, and it was organised by me. After completing the Dubai events, we returned home. Later, on 12 January, another programme was held at the Radisson Hotel in Dhaka on behalf of the groom."

This opulent affair, spanning multiple venues and attracting a global guest list, has reinforced Dubai’s reputation as a playground for the world’s elite.
