Lalmonirhat Executive Magistrate Taposhi Tabassum Urmi, has been temporarily suspended, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday (7 October).

The notice mentioned that, along with the suspension, further actions are in process in accordance with the rules and regulations.

Prior to this, Magistrate Urmi had been made an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for posting controversial remarks on social media about the anti-discrimination student movement and the Interim Government's Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus.

In her post on Facebook, the criticised magistrate wrote: "The chief adviser of the unconstitutional interim government has stated that the reset button has been pressed, erasing the past. He has erased the entire history of the country with a click on the reset button. Is it that simple? Your countdown has begun, sir."

When contacted later regarding her post, Urmi responded via phone, saying, "It's enough that I made the post. I set it to 'Only Me.' Transfers can happen for a variety of reasons. I don't want to comment on this matter."

She further added, "If I lose my job over this, I have no problem. Our nation's father is Bangabandhu; that is an established fact. Erasing the past with a reset button—what does that even mean? In that case, I believe that anti-liberation forces are running the country. It seemed to me that, from my responsible position, I had to speak up. They’re talking about the July massacre, but these are all subject to investigation and are not established truths. Nothing has been proven yet."
