BFIU freezes accounts of Aziz Khan, family amid investigation

The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit has frozen the bank accounts of Summit Group Chairman Mohammad Aziz Khan and 11 family members for 30 days as part of an ongoing financial investigation

The bank accounts of Mohammad Aziz Khan, Chairman of Summit Group, along with those of 11 family members, have been frozen for a period of 30 days. 

Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) issued a letter to all banks and financial institutions regarding this matter on Sunday (6 October).

A senior official from BFIU has confirmed the dispatch of the letter. 

The family members included in this action, alongside Mohammad Aziz Khan, are his wife, Anjuman Aziz Khan; their three daughters, Ayesha Aziz Khan, Adiba Aziz Khan, and Aajiza Aziz Khan; as well as his four brothers—Lieutenant Colonel (Retd.) Faruk Khan, Farid Khan, Latif Khan, and Zafar Umed Khan. Additionally, the sons of his brothers, Faisal Karim Khan and Salman Khan, are also part of this list.

All the mentioned individuals serve as directors within the Summit Group.

Furthermore, the BFIU's letter stipulates that if any of these 11 individuals hold any sole proprietorships, their bank accounts must also be frozen for a month. The correspondence includes the names, national identity card numbers, and birth dates of all involved.
