During the reign of Chinese Emperor Yao, in the year 2333 BC, Dangun Wanggeom, a semi-mythical figure believed to be born of a divine bear-woman and the heavenly Hwanung, established the State of Gojoseon, marking the birth of what is considered the first Korean kingdom.

Rooted in myth and legend, this foundation laid the cultural and political groundwork for future Korean states, with its legacy echoed in Korea's national identity to this day.
