In a bid to ensure the safe breeding of Hilsa, a nationwide ban on its fishing, transport, purchase, sale, storage, and exchange has been declared for 22 days.
The ban will commence on 13 October and will remain in effect until 3 November, said Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhtar on Sunday (22 September).
She stated that during the peak breeding season, the 22-day prohibition on Hilsa activities will be strictly enforced nationwide from 13 October to 3 November, to safeguard the fish's reproductive process.
