Oscars: Anora gets top honours with Baker and Madison, Brody wins second time

At the 97th Academy Awards held in Los Angeles, the independent film "Anora" emerged as the evening's standout, clinching five Oscars, including Best Picture.

Sean Baker was lauded with the Best Director award for his work on the film, while Mikey Madison received the Best Actress accolade for her portrayal of Ani, an exotic dancer entangled in a complex marriage with a Russian oligarch's son.

Adrien Brody secured the Best Actor award for his performance in "The Brutalist," marking his second Oscar win.

Zoe Saldaña was honoured as Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Emilia Pérez," where she depicted a Mexico City lawyer aiding a former drug lord's transformation.

The ceremony, hosted by Conan O'Brien, also recognised "Wicked" in the categories of Production Design and Costume Design. "I'm Still Here," representing Brazil, was awarded Best International Feature Film. 

 The event was further distinguished by heartfelt tributes, including one to the late actor Gene Hackman.

The Oscars this year were characterised by a blend of independent cinema triumphs and poignant moments, reflecting the evolving landscape of the film industry.
