The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has frozen the bank accounts Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, his four sons and three more family members.

The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has frozen the bank accounts Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, his four sons and three more family members.

The banks were asked to freeze bank accounts of  Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, his four sons - Sadat Sobhan, Shafiat Sobhan, Sayem Sobhan Anvir, and Safwan Sobhan - along with three daughters-in-law - Sonia Ferdousi Sobhan, Sabrina Sobhan, and Yasha Sobhan.

The anti-money laundering agency sent a letter to the banks asking them to freeze the personal bank accounts in their names for 30 days in the first phase.

The BFIU asked the banks to block their locker facilities as well.

The intelligence unit also asked banks to provide updates on the account details of Safwan Sobhan, son of Ahmed Akbar Sobhan; and Safwan's wife Yeasha Sobhan within two working days.
