The US Embassy in Dhaka commemorated Cotton Day 2024 on Tuesday (11 December), an annual initiative organised by Cotton Council International (CCI), a cooperative association of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).

This ninth edition of Cotton Day Bangladesh, held at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), brought together prominent stakeholders from the cotton and garment industries to discuss and advance sustainable garment supply chains using US cotton, said a press release.

Speaking at the event’s inaugural session, US Chargé d’Affaires ad interim Megan Bouldin underscored the superior quality and sustainability of American cotton.

“American cotton farmers utilise advanced agricultural practices and cutting-edge technology to produce some of the finest cotton in the world. This dedication to excellence ensures that US cotton meets the highest standards of quality and sustainability, making it a preferred choice for textile manufacturers globally,” she remarked.

The event, designed to foster collaboration between key players in the garment sector, served as a platform to promote the adoption of environmentally sustainable practices, aligning with the global emphasis on sustainable fashion.

A press release detailing the event, along with photographs, has been distributed, with a request for coverage in respected media outlets.
