A day-long awareness workshop on implementing the Bangladesh National Single Window (BDNSW) system was successfully held at BRAC Center Inn in Mohakhali. Organized jointly by vendor Web Fontaine and the Shippers' Council of Bangladesh, under the World Bank-financed Bangladesh Connectivity Project-1 and led by the National Board of Revenue (NBR), the workshop aimed to raise awareness on the BDNSW system.
The workshop saw the participation of approximately 100 representatives from various member organisations of the Shippers' Council.
Senior Vice-Chairman of the Shippers' Council, Md. Ariful Ahsan, served as the chief guest, while Director Syed Md. Bakhtiar delivered a topic-based presentation. A Joint Commissioner from the NBR provided welcome remarks, and the team leader from Web Fontaine gave an in-depth presentation on the Single Window System.
Through PowerPoint presentations and live demonstrations, speakers explained the BDNSW’s objectives, functionalities, benefits, and registration process in a straightforward manner.
Speakers emphasised that the BDNSW system aims to simplify cross-border trade procedures related to imports and exports, enabling businesses to access various services with reduced time, lower costs, and minimal hassle. The system focuses on creating a risk-free, reliable trading environment and establishing an internet-based connection between government agencies and the business community.
Traders can register on the Bangladesh Single Window portal to submit all necessary applications and documents for business needs in one place, including obtaining permits, certificates, and licenses. Progress can also be monitored via mobile devices. Speakers encouraged all business entities to register under this portal to fully benefit from its services
