Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced a ban on rallies, meetings, or demonstrations near the Chief Justice's official residence, the Judges Complex, the main gate of the Supreme Court, and on the road adjacent to Matsya Bhavan.

In a notice issued by the DMP commissioner, the decision was described as being in the public interest due to recent emerging situations. This restriction will take effect from Friday, 30 August.

The ban is imposed under Section 29 of the DMP Ordinance (Ordinance No-III/76) and will remain in force until further notice.

Previously, on August 26, DMP had imposed an indefinite ban on any type of meeting, gathering, procession, rally, or demonstration in the areas surrounding the Bangladesh Secretariat and the Chief Adviser’s official residence, Jamuna, following a clash between Dhaka University students and agitating Ansar members outside the Secretariat.
