Three people were killed in a violent clash between cousins over a land boundary dispute in the West Kutupalong area of Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, on the morning of 6 April.

The deceased have been identified as Maulana Abdullah Al Mamun, khatib of the Kutupalong Bazar Jame Mosque and a local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, his cousin Abdul Mannan, and Mannan’s sister Shahina Begum.

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge of Ukhiya Police Station, Arif Hossain, said, “We are still investigating the matter and will provide further details in due course.”

According to Mohammad Ali, general secretary of the Kutupalong Bazar Committee, a dispute erupted between the cousins over the boundary wall of their shared property. “The quarrel turned deadly. I am currently at the hospital. Three have died — the mosque's khatib Mamun, and his cousins Mannan and Shahina,” he said.

Ali added that the clash was between two sides of the same extended family: Maulana Abdullah Al Mamun on one side, and Mannan and Shahina on the other.
