As the Eid holidays conclude, Dhaka-bound travellers have started returning to the capital, though without the usual rush.
Unlike the outbound exodus before Eid, trains, launches, and buses on the return journey are experiencing a lighter passenger load, allowing many to travel with ease.
With schools still on holiday, many commuters have returned alone, leaving their families behind in villages.
Meanwhile, those unable to travel before Eid are now making their way to their hometowns.
A visit to the capital’s key transport hubs—Kamalapur Railway Station, Sadarghat Launch Terminal, and Gabtoli, Sayedabad, and Mohakhali bus terminals—revealed a relatively smooth flow of passengers.
At Gabtoli bus terminal, long-distance buses were arriving with only a handful of passengers.
The usually congested Aminbazar Bridge to Mazar Road stretch remained largely empty.
The scene was similar at Sadarghat in the afternoon.
Launch passengers returning to Dhaka were fewer than expected, and those who had stayed back for work were now seizing the opportunity to travel.
Across Dhaka’s major transport points, a balance was observed—while many returned, an equal number were departing.
The usual post-Eid travel congestion was notably absent, allowing for a smoother and more comfortable journey.
