The Dhaka University (DU) authority has temporarily suspended 128 students for their alleged involvement in attacks on students participating in the anti-discriminatory student movement, which took place between 15 July and 5 August last year.

The decision was made during an emergency syndicate meeting held on Monday, following a report submitted by a fact-finding committee tasked with identifying those responsible.

DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan confirmed the decision to the media.

It has been reported that the suspended students are affiliated with the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling political party.

DU Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed stated that a probe committee has been formed to conduct a detailed investigation into the matter. "The final decision regarding the students will be made after the probe committee submits its report," he said.
