Bangladesh seeks enhanced collaboration with Australia on technical education and Rohingya repatriation

 Australian High Commissioner Susan Ryle paid a courtesy visit to Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today. During the meeting, both sides discussed avenues for strengthening bilateral ties, focusing on technical education and the Rohingya crisis.

The Foreign Affairs Adviser emphasised the importance of collaboration between Bangladesh’s Technical Training Centres (TTCs) and Australia’s Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions. He highlighted the need for mutual recognition of degrees and upgrading technical education standards in Bangladesh to ensure the global mobility of a skilled workforce, reads a press release. 

The discussions also addressed the Rohingya refugee crisis, with the Adviser reiterating Bangladesh’s call for immediate international action to ensure the safe and dignified repatriation of the Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals to Rakhine State. He urged the global community to support a concrete roadmap for this process.

Australian High Commissioner Susan Ryle reaffirmed her country’s commitment to working with Bangladesh on the Rohingya issue. She assured Bangladesh of Australia’s support in facilitating the early repatriation of Rohingya refugees to their homeland.

The meeting also covered other areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, migration, and visa facilitation, highlighting the growing partnership between the two nations.
