Renowned theatre personality Dr Syed Jamil Ahmed has announced his resignation from the position of Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. He made the announcement this evening (Friday) during an event held at the academy.
Syed Jamil Ahmed assumed the role on 10 September last year. After serving for five and a half months, he has stepped down from the position.
The announcement was made at the closing ceremony of the ‘Munier Chowdhury National Theatre Festival,’ organised by the Training Department of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Syed Jamil Ahmed was present as the chief guest at the event.
During the programme, he handed over his resignation letter to the academy's Secretary, Mohammad Waris Hossain, on stage.
