Chief of Army Staff General Wakar-uz-Zaman, has asserted that no members of the military were involved in the Pilkhana massacre, adding that those who were convicted in the case deserved their punishment.

He made these remarks on Tuesday (25 February) while speaking at an event commemorating the BDR massacre.

Speaking on the matter, the army chief further stated that a commission had been formed to ascertain whether any political leaders or external forces had played a role in the Pilkhana killings.

"The commission is conducting its investigation and will present its findings in due course," he noted.

However, he emphasised that the fundamental truth remains unchanged: the army officers and personnel who lost their lives in the massacre were shot by members of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR).
