Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan has stated that law enforcement agencies have been directed to take swift action against those involved in the recent attack at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET).
Speaking at an event at Adamjee Cantonment College on Wednesday (19 February) he emphasised that individuals responsible for the violence would be held accountable under the law.
"The fascist forces have no place in Bangladesh’s electoral process.
The future of the country's politics will be shaped through a Truth Commission," he asserted.
He further remarked that the Awami League would not be allowed to participate in elections for the time being.
"Justice must come first. The Awami League must be dismantled both ideologically and politically," he declared.
Urging collective unity in building a new Bangladesh, he called on all citizens to stand together for national reconstruction.
The statement comes in the wake of a violent clash at KUET on Tuesday (18 February) between students and activists of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal over the ongoing ban on campus politics.
At least 20 individuals were injured in the altercation, prompting the deployment of joint security forces to restore order.
