From arts to activism, diverse trailblazers named for Ekushey Padak 2025

The government has announced 14 distinguished individuals, including posthumous recipients as the honourees of the 2025 Ekushey Padak for their significant contributions across various fields

The interim government has nominated fourteen eminent citizens alongside the Bangladesh National Women's Football Team for the prestigious Ekushey Padak 2025, in recognition of their invaluable contributions across diverse sectors.

Ministry of Cultural Affairs announced the decision on Thursday (6 February).

The recipients include Azizur Rahman (posthumously) for his contributions to cinema, Ustad Nirad Baran Barua (posthumously) and Ferdous Ara for their contributions to music, Nasir Ali Mamun for photography, and Rokeya Sultana for fine arts.

In the field of journalism, Mahfuz Ullah will be honoured posthumously, while Mahmudur Rahman has been recognised for his work in both journalism and human rights.

Shahidul Alam has been acknowledged for his contributions to culture and education, with Niaz Zaman honoured for her impact in the realm of education.

In science and technology, Mehedi Hasan Khan has been selected, while Mohammad Yusuf Chowdhury (posthumously) will be recognised for his services to social welfare.

The language and literature category includes posthumous awards for Helal Hafiz and Shahidul Jahir.

Lastly, Moinul Hasan has been nominated for his notable achievements in research.

The inclusion of the Bangladesh National Women's Football Team reflects their remarkable accomplishments on both national and international stages, marking a significant moment in the history of the Ekushey Padak.
