Another bomb threat was made targeting an Armed Police Battalion (APBn) duty officer at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA), just a day after a bomb scare disrupted a flight arriving in Dhaka. However, this time also no bomb was found.

"As per protocol, we are working in coordination with all agencies and have tightened security," said HSIA Executive Director Group Captain Kamrul Islam  in a written message to the media on Thursday (23 January.)

"A search was conducted throughout the airport which concluded at 2:30am but nothing was found," he added.

He further said that operations at the airport remain unaffected and urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unnecessary alarm.

The latest incident follows a scare on 22 January involving Biman flight BG-356, which was en route from Rome to Dhaka.

Mid-flight, information was received suggesting a bomb threat onboard.

The aircraft, carrying 250 passengers and 13 crew members, landed safely, and all passengers were evacuated before the plane was taken to the terminal for inspection.

As per protocol, all baggage and items were thoroughly checked, and no threat was found, authorities said.

Authorities have assured that heightened security measures are in place to ensure public safety, while operations at the airport continue as normal.
