The New Jersey General Assembly has honoured Bangladeshi journalist Karamot Ullah Biplob for his reporting and research on climate change.
Senator Benjie E Wimberly presented Biplob with the award on Monday (20 January) 2024, in Paterson City, said a press release.
A report written by General Assembly Speaker Craig J Coughlin cited the impact of climate change in South Asian countries and Biplob's work regarding displaced people as key examples.
Senator Wimberly stated that not only South Asia, but also many developed countries in Europe and America are at significant risk due to climate change.
He also affirmed the New Jersey General Assembly's support for public welfare journalism.
Asian Post USA Publisher Enam Chowdhury and Channel 52 USA Director Chowdhury Hasin Farah attended the award ceremony.
South Asian Climate Change Journalist Forum (SACCJF) Secretary General Biplob has been working in various US states for approximately two months as part of a climate-related fellowship.
His fellowship focuses on researching and investigating future plans for rehabilitating people affected by natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes, blizzards, and fires.
Last month, Biplob, a renowned climate journalist, also received special recognition from New York State in Buffalo.
