The northern district of Panchagarh is shivering as temperatures drop significantly with the end of the Bengali month of Poush.

On Saturday morning (11 January), the Tetulia Weather Observation Center recorded 8.2°C at 9:00 am, slightly higher than Friday’s season-low temperature of 7.3°C.

Dense fog has covered the district, disrupting visibility on roads and forcing vehicles to use headlights even after sunrise. The cold weather has hit low-income residents the hardest, with many struggling to cope due to a lack of warm clothing.

Rokonuzzaman Rokon, an official at the Tetulia Weather Observation Center, confirmed that a mild cold wave is sweeping across the district and predicted several more in January.

While the sun appeared briefly around 7:30 am, providing some relief, the harsh weather continues to pose challenges for vulnerable populations, highlighting the need for support during this cold spell.
