The government will finalise the draft of the 'Proclamation of the July Uprising' after consulting with political parties, said Shafiqul Alam, press secretary to the Chief Adviser.

"Dialogue with political parties regarding the 'Proclamation of the July Uprising' will take place. We will finalise the draft only after consulting them," Shafiqul Alam said while speaking at a briefing on Sunday (5 January) at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka.

During the briefing, the Press Secretary announced that media personnel would be allowed to visit the infamous 'Aynaghar,' reportedly used as a torture cell during the previous Awami League government.

"Media representatives will be granted access to 'Aynaghar.' Visiting the site will show how the previous government detained and tortured innocent people for days," Shafiqul Alam stated.

The Press Secretary also provided updates on the ongoing investigation into the high-profile murder case of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi.

He mentioned that a task force was formed in November to investigate the case and that fresh interviews have been conducted with 25-30 individuals.

"The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) is working diligently on this case. We are hopeful they will achieve positive results as they are putting in significant effort," he added.
