Foggy conditions are expected to persist in Dhaka and other parts of the country for the next two to three days, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) reported on Thursday (2 January).
Dhaka experienced a minimum temperature yesterday that was approximately 2 degrees Celsius lower than the average, while the daytime temperature was 4 degrees Celsius below the seasonal norm, according to Meteorologist Md Bazlur Rashid.
In its latest weather bulletin issued this morning, the BMD forecast dry weather with a temporarily partly cloudy sky across Bangladesh over the next 24 hours, starting at 9am.
Moderate to dense fog is likely to occur nationwide from midnight until noon, potentially disrupting air navigation, inland river transport, and road communications.
Night-time temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged, while daytime temperatures may decline further by 1-2 degrees Celsius.
Dhaka's wind direction and speed are projected to be north-northwesterly at 8 to 12 kilometres per hour.
This morning, the BMD recorded Dhaka's minimum temperature at 13.8 degrees Celsius. Chuadanga registered the lowest temperature in the country at 9.8 degrees Celsius.
