BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is taking preparation to move to London on 7 January for advanced treatment for her health complexities.

Dr Enamul Haque Chowdhury, who is set to accompany BNP chief, told the journalists on Wednesday noon (25 December).

He said, “Begum Khaleda Zia will go to London for advanced treatment on 7 January.”

Khaleda Zia was supposed to participate in the freedom fighters’ rally on 21 December. However, the rally was postponed due to deterioration of her physical condition.

BNP party sources said that Begum Khaleda Zia will be accompanied by a 15-member team comprising physician, nurse, and personal assistants.

Earlier, on October 29, Dr. Zahid Hossain had said that Khaleda Zia would first be taken to London in a 'Long Distance Specialized Air Ambulance' for advanced treatment. From there, she would be taken to a multidisciplinary medical centre in a third country.

Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is suffering from liver cirrhosis.

According to her physicians, she needs a liver transplant.

Moreover, the BNP chief has been suffering from various complications including kidney disease, arthritis, lung disease, heart disease, and diabetes for a long time.
