In a continuing crackdown on discipline violations, the Bangladesh Police Academy in Rajshahi has discharged 58 more trainee sub-inspectors (SIs).
Police Headquarters confirmed the dismissals on Monday, attributing them to breaches of academy discipline.
This action follows an earlier dismissal of 252 cadet SIs from the academy on 22 October for similar reasons.
The recent disciplinary actions come amid calls for police reform in Bangladesh, particularly after the 5 August political upheaval that ousted the former government.
Rajshahi Police Academy, which trains cadets rigorously, faced heightened scrutiny following reports of misbehaviour during training sessions, including allegations of absenteeism, defiance of commands, and unauthorised conduct.
The academy, in collaboration with Police Headquarters, is keen on ensuring strict adherence to protocol among its cadets to restore public confidence in law enforcement.
This rigorous enforcement of discipline standards underscores the academy's commitment to moulding a new generation of police officers, reflecting broader efforts to instil accountability within Bangladesh’s police forces.
