Israel consulted former US President Donald Trump before initiating its latest wave of airstrikes on Gaza, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt said on Tuesday (18 March), as reported by Al Jazeera.
According to the White House official, prior to launching the assault, Israeli authorities sought guidance from Trump.
“The President has made it clear—Hamas, the Houthis, and Iran are not merely targeting Israel but are also attempting to intimidate the United States. They must pay a severe price,” Levitt stated.
She further warned that groups such as the Houthis, Hezbollah, Hamas, and Iran-backed militants should take Trump’s stance seriously, as he remains unwavering in his support for both the US and its ally, Israel.
Israel’s latest offensive comes in the wake of the collapse of a ceasefire, with relentless air raids pounding the besieged Gaza Strip.
The death toll has risen to at least 170, including children, as the region reels under the ferocity of the bombardment.
