Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said as a neighbouring country, they will have concerns over the situation in Bangladesh.
PM Modi at Red Fort Independence Day speech on Thursday (15 August) hoped that the situation will normalise soon.
"We hope minorities, Hindus will be safe. We will be part of Bangladesh's road to progress," he mentioned.
Earlier on 8 August, Modi conveyed his best wishes to Professor Muhammad Yunus on the assumption of his new responsibilities.
"We hope for an early return to normalcy, ensuring the safety and protection of Hindus and all other minority communities," Modi said.
He said India remains committed to working with Bangladesh to fulfil the shared aspirations of both our peoples for peace, security and development.
