Interim Government’s Ministry of Finance and Planning Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed has announced a move towards providing genuine inflation and GDP data rather than adjusted figures.
"Recent supply chain disruptions have led to increased living costs. However, with prices of certain goods now decreasing, further reductions are expected once market conditions normalise," he said during a meeting with senior officials from the Planning Ministry and Commission at the NEC conference room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Tuesday (13 August),
He emphasised that controlling inflation will be a primary focus.
The adviser further stated that funding will be allocated only to essential projects to avoid creating disruptions, with a preference for projects that offer maximum benefits at lower costs.
He assured that discrepancies in various economic indicators would be resolved, stressing the need for improved accuracy in the work of the Bureau of Statistics.
