The Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) will train some 8,000 related businessmen and workers for the development of the country's jewelry industry.
This training will be provided to gold traders and workers across the country under the Accelerating and Strengthening Skills for Economic Transformation (ASSET) project funded by the World Bank and being supervised by the Bangladesh Technical Education Board.
The speakers said this while addressing the opening ceremony of the training program held at a local hotel in Cox's Bazar on Wednesday (10 July), said a press release.
Moderated by BAJUS advisor Ruhul Amin Russell, Secretary of Technical and Madrasah Education Division Farid Uddin Ahmed spoke as the chief guest.
Farid said that in order to turn Bangladesh in to a prosperous developed country by 2041, there is a need for creating skilled human resources.
For this reason, he called upon the entrepreneurs to enhance their skills through training.
ASSET project director Abu Mumtaz Saad Uddin Ahmed said, "We hope that through this training and with the assistance of BAJUS, the jewellery workers can be groomed as skilled and thus their efficiency can be evaluated,"
BAJUS spokesperson Anwar Hossain said that there is no alternative to technical education to advance the jewellery industry. "It requires formal technical education. Our jewellery workers are renowned worldwide. If we can take technical education, we can move forward compared to countries like India, Dubai, China."
Deputy Project Director of ASSET project Abu Md Abdur Rahim also spoke.
