The Padma Bridge has generated Tk1,648 crore in toll over the past two years, said Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
The much-discussed Padma Bridge was built at a cost of Tk32,605 crore.
“We have already started to benefit from the bridge. Three crore people and 1.27 crore vehicles used the bridge in the last two years, contributing Tk1,648 crore to the country’s exchequer,” said Quader.
He revealed this information at a press briefing following a board meeting at the Setu Bhaban in Banani, Dhaka.
Quader mentioned that Tk948 crore has already been paid to the Finance Division as part of the construction agreement.
He added that the Prime Minister will hand over a cheque for Tk314 crore for the 7th and 8th installments to the Finance Division on 27 June.
On this day in 2022, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the construction of the Padma Bridge over the Padma River.
