A Chinese engineer was killed in an explosion at a battery plant at Palash Housing in South Panishail in Gazipur’s Kashimpur on Tuesday (16 April) evening. The victim was identified as Peu Shu Qi, 53.
At least five others were injured in the incident at Chinese-owned Tong Rui Da Industry’s factory, said Gazipur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Abu Torab Mohammad Shamsur Rahman.
On Tuesday evening, when the battery factory was to be restarted, the boiler exploded, leaving six people, who were nearby the boiler, seriously injured. Later, the injured were immediately rescued and taken to the Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Memorial Specialized Hospital. The Chinese citizen was declared dead by the doctor at the hospital.
