Police have recovered the body of a security guard of an ATM booth of Modhumoti Bank who was hacked to death by miscreants in the capital's Shahjadpur area of Gulshan early Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Hasan Mahmud, 55.
Mazharul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gulshan Police Station, said some unknown miscreants stabbed a security guard at the ATM booth of Modhumoti Bank under a multi-storey building named Maisha Chowdhury Tauar in Shahjadpur area of Gulshan around 5:15 am. However, it is believed that the miscreants failed to take money from the ATM booth.
The work is underway to collect CCTV footage of the ATM booth and identify those involved in the incident, said the OC.
The body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.
